For all you tards who make uneducated statements regarding EBOLA listen up. There are five species of the genus Ebolavirus; EBOV, SUDV, RESTV, TAFV, BDBV. Four of which, excluding RESTV, have been found to have rare zoonotic transmissions causing Ebola virus disease (EVD) in humans. The current human outbreak in Africa consists of EBOV (West Africa) and SUDV (Democratic Republic of the Congo), the two deadliest members of genus Ebolavirus; there is no known link between the two. This is the first known outbreak of both overlapped. The current 3 known cases in the US are EBOV. EVD is spread through direct contact through broken skin or mucous membranes (e.g. eyes, nose or mouth) with blood, urine, saliva, sweat, feces, vomit, breast milk, semen, any contaminated objects and infected animals. EVD has a 2-21 day incubation period. Its current mortality rate is 70%. The disease is spreading rapidly through Africa due to their poor health-care system and lack of education. (e.g. Hospitals are full, diseased dying in the streets, bush meat sales and consumption have been banned by their Government yet it continues to be sold and regularly eaten due to civilian uneducated beliefs that Ebola is not in meat.) This is all a concern to the US mainly due to international travelers; who come back into the US during the incubation period of the disease, unaware of being infected, on arrival unknowingly spreading this disease to friends, family, coworkers, etc. who in turn will do the same. Also the small fact that science/technology isn't perfect and that someone who indeed is infected with EVD could have a false-negative lab result and be discharged from the hospital with the first stage of symptoms causing exponential contamination and transmission. There is no cure for this disease only supportive care during which everyone waits in hopes that your body will produce antibodies fast enough before the disease completely takes over. This is something to worry about, not to freak the fuck out about, just keep it in mind and don't be stupid.
